Changes abound! We’ve got a new feature for you to sink your teeth into, and some news about one of our classics.
In Focus is a new monthly feature that spotlights the connections between arts, culture, and other relevant topics, by providing resources to help you self-educate. For our inaugural edition, we’ve prepared a list of articles, studies and websites on the connections between arts, the environment and climate action. Scroll down for more.
Meanwhile, we’ve folded our weekly What’s On column into our Member Events coverage. The new section is called What’s On, to carry on the spirit of the old series. BC Alliance members are invited to submit their events to this section.
You can find out more about all of this below. I’m not sure why I went so ’80s with the banner design for What’s On. I guess because I was born in late ’89. I spent three glorious months in the ’80s and honestly, it’s all been downhill for me since then. Just trying to recapture that magic.
My last televisual obsession is a British show called Taskmaster. It’s a comedy variety show where the competitors have to take on open-ended tasks, like “make the best graph” or “you have one hour to get this coconut as far away from here as possible.” Really fun stuff for fans of creative thinking. It’s all on YouTube, too, so it’s easy to track down. Love when that happens.
Your task, if you choose to accept it, is to read the rest of this newsletter. Onwards!
In Focus: Arts, The Environment and Climate Action
As we seek to address the ongoing climate crisis, art is an essential tool both in expressing our concerns and anxieties, and in making the scientific narrative accessible to the broader public. At the BC Alliance, we believe artists and creatives can be at the forefront of the battle against climate change. Here are some resources you can access to learn about the connections between art and climate action.
We’ve Consolidated What’s On
As stated above, we’ve folded our weekly What’s On column into our Member Events coverage. The new section is called What’s On, to carry on the spirit of the old series. BC Alliance members are invited to submit their events to this section.
