Vancouver – Want a career in music? Want to find an audience on the web? Looking to perform something new? Want to know how to get your music known? Join the Emergence mentoring ONLINE for young women and female identified singers and musicians from the varied cultures of BC. Whether you sing R&B, play the Persian santur, play an electric erhu, or are blending all three with K-Pop, these free sessions are for you.
These monthly interactive sessions led by women performers discuss issues for a successful career including: networking, getting gigs, showcasing, funding, promotion, stage presence, and merchandising. The 2020 Emergence Mentorship workshop is building on the powerful bonding experience of the 2019 workshop, that had rave reviews from those involved.
Every month a guest artist joins our mentors: Mei Han, the world’s leading contemporary Chinese zheng artist and scholar; Krystle Dos Santos, a powerful R&B vocalist and actress; and Deirdre Morgan, ethnomusicologist, VCC instructor, and jews harp visionary.

An award-winning vocalist, Krystle Dos Santos is known for her powerful voice and her infectious warmth. Crossing genres, she combines soul with jazz, pop, funk, and blues into her own unique expression.
Emergence BC is a musical mentorship program for women and female identified singers and musicians from the varied cultures and musical genres of BC and beyond. Produced by the Red Chamber Cultural Society with financial assistance from Creative BC, Emergence BC Mentorship was launched in May 2019 as a weekend intensive. With COVID 19, Emergence BC Mentorship moved to a free online monthly format.
Red Chamber Cultural Society (RCCS) was registered on Feb 24 2015. Red Chamber Cultural Society’s mandate is:
1. To support, present, and promote the education, preservation, contemporization, inter-media experimentation, and cross-cultural exploration of traditional music and arts from the world’s cultures.
2. To create platforms for arts and cultural professionals, youth, elderly, and those with physical or mental challenges to work together to explore existing and new world cultures.
