Libraries and Museums Contribute Billions to Canadian Economy & Society Well-Being: Study on Value of GLAMs

Canada gains nearly $8.6 billion a year in economic benefits, in addition to a myriad of social advantages, from the existence of non-profit galleries, libraries, archives and museums (GLAMs), according to a new study commissioned by the Ottawa Declaration Working Group.

“For every dollar invested in these non-profit institutions, society gets nearly four dollars in benefits  — a return that is on par with government investments in transportation infrastructure projects,” notes Prof. Jack Lohman, CBE, President of the Canadian Museums Association.
