Music of the Night – The Concert Tour, is a concert celebration of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 70th Birthday and his acclaim as the most successful musical theatre composer of all time. Audiences across BC will have the unique opportunity to hear performances of some of the most iconic musical theatre scores ever written including selections from Phantom of the Opera, Evita, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Sunset Boulevard, and more!
Brought to you by the acclaimed Sound the Alarm: Music/Theatre, under the artistic leadership of Alan Corbishley and the musical direction of Canadian music impresario Frederik Robert, the cast is comprised of provincial and international musical theatre professionals. Melina Schein, soprano, is a New York native, now residing in the Okanagan, who has numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway credits, including Phantom of the Opera. Internationally acclaimed tenor Nic Kyle has performed extensively through London’s West End and played Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar in Australia and New Zealand Tours. Albertan mezzo-soprano Amy Gartner has performed in many musical theatre productions throughout BC. Zander Felton, baritone, is a Vancouver Island-native and one of our province’s most promising emerging talents.
Sound the Alarm’s Music of the Night tour will remind audiences why Andrew Lloyd Webber is the musical phenomenon he is known to be.

The acoustic soul, funk & pop mastery of Toronto’s Lester McLean Band returns to Music in the Park’s Night Market, sponsored by Teck Metals Ltd., on Thursday, July 18 from 5-9 pm at Gyro Park in Trail.
After the success of the Night Markets last year, the event returns with the Lester McLean Band turning up the heat with classic Soul, R&B, Funk and Pop from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, as well as original works from Lester himself. The unique blend of songs shows off the stellar musicianship of the band, including Lester on lead vocals and Soprano Sax, vocalist, composer, and Juno award-winner Michael Occhipinti on nylon string guitar and background vocals, and multi-instrumentalist Louis Simão on upright acoustic bass and backing vocals. Keeping the beat going on drums is our very own Tony Ferraro from Trail.
Throughout his career, Lester has performed with a wide array of Canadian and International artists including Maestro, jacksoul, Ashley McIsaac, Vinx, Jarvis Church, Colin James, Divine Brown, and Jim Cuddy.
Lester will be joined on July 18 by opening act Brad Lee Whiplash & The Werewolves Of Thunder. Hailing from Rossland, with members from Giant Water Bug, Dirt Floor, Shredded Cheese, Tim Hurley & the Vultures and 5 Horse Death, “The Thunder” are a jam band not to miss! The Thunder cover material from the Blues greats, The Allman Brothers and Dylan, just to name a few, mixed in with originals, to deliver their own brand of rock and roll.
The market is hosted by incrEDIBLE Trail Farmers Market and will feature beer, wine and cider at our Adult Only Beverage Garden! And, you will be able to enjoy artisanal food from the best food trucks and vendors in the area including fabulous local artists, designers and craft-makers.
“Trail & District Arts Council is super excited about partnering again with incrEDIBLE Trail and we can’t wait to feel the buzz again at this fabulous summer event,” said Executive Director, Nadine Tremblay. “The combination of food trucks, vendors, live music, beer garden and the beautiful setting of Gyro Park is exciting. There will be something for everybody and we hope that Greater Trail comes out to take in some music, dance and celebrate summer together outdoors.”
Brad Whiplash & the Werewolves of Thunder open at 6.15 pm and the Lester McLean Band takes the stage at 7 pm. Bring your dancing shoes and come early to get the best spot.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair and chill out before the show. Enjoy a stroll around the market, quench your thirst at the Beer Garden, and get tasty treats from our food trucks and vendors.

Trail & District Arts Council presents Triple Threat Experience’s Disney’s The Lion King JR featuring the students from the 3-Week Summer Intensive. This weekend the young participants of our area will wow you with their singing, dancing and acting of this Disney classic. Don’t miss it! They rock!
Disney’s The Lion King has captivated the imagination of audiences around the world. And now, the African savannah comes to life on The Bailey stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle… and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.
The Lion King Jr. is being performed by participants in our 3-week Triple Threat Summer Intensive program. Young performers aged 7-17 are trained in all three disciplines of acting, singing and dancing and then wrap-up the course with a full scale musical theatre production performed before a live audience.
