KHC/AGOG announces 6 FREE Visual Arts community workshops to get ready for the
“I LIKE IT” The Anonymous Art Show
coming this November 16 through January 3
Hey you! It doesn’t matter whether you are young or old. It doesn’t matter whether you think of yourself as an artist or a hobbyist or just like to have fun playing around with creating something. AGOG wants you to do your best and submit a piece into this November’s community art exhibit called “I Like It” The Anonymous Art Show.
And to help you do that we’re collaborating with the Golden Visual Arts Guild to host 6 visual arts workshops with local teachers over the next 6 weeks! These workshops are FREE to you and yours but you do need to register – first come first served. See below for more details on the workshops.
But, first… here’s how the “I Like It” The Anonymous Art Show works.
Anyone in the community — young or old, student or professional, artist or hobbyist — all are invited to participate in the exhibit by creating and submitting small works on 8”x8” canvas or wood panels. The thrill of the exhibit is that all works are displayed anonymously, with the artist remaining a mystery until the work is purchased. In other words, visitors to the gallery browse the collage of pieces and when they decide “I Like It!” they purchase the piece and that’s when the artist is revealed!
As pieces are purchased, the empty spots fill up with tags. With the Anonymous concept, long standing artists enjoy the opportunity of working in small sizes and will sometimes try a new technique behind the veil of anonymity while for others this may be their first time exhibiting a piece to the public. With all pieces priced at $60, original work becomes accessible to the community at an affordable price Who knows what and who you will discover!
6 FREE Visual Art community workshops and registration:
This is a community arts initiative so with BIG thanks to a grant from the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance and CBT, all workshops are free of charge and open to all who are interested in developing their skills and submitting one to three pieces into the November “I Like It!” exhibit. Each workshop will be held on a Wednesday evening at the Golden Civic Centre from 6pm on. Upon registration, participants will be given more details on the workshop outline and the supplies (if necessary) you may need to attend. Big thanks to the collaborative support of the Golden Visual Art Guild and their workshop presenters.
