Creative BC partners with the First Peoples’ Cultural Council to deliver new Indigenous Music Retreat
The First Peoples’ Cultural Council is excited to offer a new opportunity for Indigenous music performers to attend the first Indigenous Music Retreat from May 6–11, 2018, at the Brew Creek Centre, in Whistler, B.C.
Twenty emerging and dedicated artists from across BC will be selected to participate, to develop and expand their careers in today’s music industry. The retreat will include workshops, roundtable discussions, one-on-one consultations and coaching, and evening showcases. Established industry professionals and experienced music mentors will be on hand to share their knowledge, skills, wisdom and experience.
The Indigenous Music Retreat is open to First Nations, Métis and Inuit music artists who demonstrate a lived commitment to a career in music. Accommodation, food and travel costs are covered through the program. This initiative is supported by Creative BC and the Province of British Columbia.
Deadline for applications is March 1, 2018.
BCMF Signature Artist Program Reopens
This program is designed to attract internationally renowed artists from Canada and aborad to implement large scale projects in BC. Eligible activities include sound recording, tour pre-production, and other activities creating significant economic activity in BC.
Funds remaining in this program total $16,000. Applicants must have a minimum project budget of $100,000 in BC expenditures, delivered between May 1, 2017, and October 1, 2018.
