February News from Rossland Council for Arts and Culture

Upcoming RCAC Events:

On Friday February 9th, come beat the winter blues and share some laughs with friends!

TheatreSports is high-action, short-form improv full of comic vengeance! Voted Vancouver’s #1 Improv Comedy Company by the 2017 Best of Vancouver Awards, TheatreSports™ League is a well-respected, international leader in this art form. Relying on razor-sharp wit and lightning-fast reflexes, two teams of performers will be pitted against each other in competitive improv matches. Using audience suggestions to fuel scenes, teams must create totally improvised situations on the spot.

The evening performance also features an innovative and entertaining warm-up act by local theatre troupe Mythopoeic Productions, headed by Alisha VanWieren. She will examine the relationship that young people have with their technological devices and each other.

There will also be a prize draw at the show, for two free tickets to the “Remi Bolduc Jazz Ensemble Presents: Swingin’ with Oscar” performance. All new RCAC Members are eligible to win!

Tickets for the workshop and/or the performance are available at “Out of the Cellar” and online at rosslandartscouncil.com

Tickets are $20 for adults, and $10 for youth.

Doors open at 7 and the show starts at 7:30. See you there!

RCAC is currently seeking talented, up-and-coming performance artists to open for our headlining artists in next year’s performance series!

Thanks to BC Touring’s “Warming up the Act” grant, this is a great opportunity for emerging artists to be paid and perform to a large audience!

Aspiring, emerging artists are defined as those up to 34 years old, who have mastered the basic techniques of their art form through education or apprenticeship and are in the early stage of launching a professional career. Proposed aspiring, emerging artists will use support to maximize their potential audience, and to propel them into eventually headlining or being considered a main stage artist.

Does this sound like you, or someone you know? send an email to rosslandarts@gmail.com with details.
