Beatboxing and bhangra with a touch of education
Teck Family Series presents Ruploops: The Human Radio
October 15 at 2 pm

Trail and District Arts Council kicks off the Teck Family Series on Sunday, October 15th with a fusion of beatboxing, bhangra and live looping.
RupLoops’ new interactive show, The Human Radio, will take you on a journey of sound, exploring anatomy, geography and culture. Through body percussion and beatboxing, Rup demonstrates and teaches how the body is a musical instrument, exploring how it allows us to create and listen to music. With a mix of hip-hop, blues and bhangra, The Human Radio tunes into themes of home, identity, culture, justice, dignity and celebration. Using live looping, and an arsenal of eclectic instruments from around the globe, Rup creates a pulsating, entertaining, and engaging musical experience.
Rupinder Sidhu, aka RupLoops (roop-loops), has shared stages with Chugge Khan, Rajasthan Josh, Tanya Tagaq, Shane Koyczan, Delhi 2 Dublin, Michael Franti, and Jeet Thayil.
Rupinder’s other work includes contemporary fusions of classical ragas; scores for the National Film Board of Canada; remixes of vintage Bollywood tunes; and experimental compositions for dance and theatre productions.
Local beat boxer Finn Kinghorn will be sharing his skills as he opens for this fantastic show.
The Teck Family Series shows are recommended for families with kids aged 5-10. The series also includes Motus O Dance Theatre’s Petrouchka, Mr. Fish the science, magic and circus guy, and Story Theatre’s Rumpelstiltskin—all on Sundays at 2:00 p.m.
Tickets are on sale now. Series Passes are only $40! And a family of 4 pass is just $144.
Single tickets for individual shows are $15.
