Sex, Spaceships and Socialism
Looking for a Fringe Festival Experience? Trail & District Arts Council’s E2 Series is a mixture of cutting edge comedy, theatre and music and IS the best quirky and intimate arts experience you’ll have all year. Including award-winning Canadian Fringe circuit artists, every show is artful and innovative, gets you close to the artists and laughing hard in a cabaret-style setting.
E2 stands for Experiments in Entertainment — and that’s exactly what you get when you purchase a series pass! Spaceships, drag queens, socialism, theatre, sex, comedy and sultry vocals encompass this year’s stellar line up.
Kicking off this season, critically acclaimed Mike Delamont returns on Friday September 29th with God Is A Scottish Drag Queen: The Second Coming. In this unforgettable night of comedy, God, dressed in a floral power suit, comes down to skewer everything from the 10 Commandments to Trump in this hilarious two act comedy of biblical proportions! A cross between Dame Edna and Billy Connolly, with a dollop of Eddie Izzard! If you caught Mike the first time, you will want to see the sequel and if you missed him the first time, now’s your chance to see for yourself what everyone’s been talking about.
Executive Director, Nadine Tremblay explains “I think that Mike’s shows are very well crafted. He does what seems like stand up comedy but plays this amazing drag queen character the entire time and people just eat it up. Nobody that I know of left offended after last year’s performance–even the more religious audience members laughed their pants off so I wouldn’t let the title throw you and if you leave offended, I’ll give you your money back.”
5 STARS “STAND UP EVERYONE CAN RELATE TO!” CBC
This series also includes Chase Padgett’s award-winning 6 Guitars with Kootenay’s own Dawson Rudtledge as an opening act, Jeff Leard’s Sci-fi theatre show Jupiter Rebellion, and Coco Love Alcorn as part of her Invitation to Sing Tour.
When you purchase an E2 Series pass, you get 4 shows for the price of 3! Series passes are $65 and available NOW. Single tickets for individual shows will go on sale on Tuesday September 5th and are $24 or $22 in advance.
