Book the weekend off work, pack the kids in the car, put on some sweet tunes then head up the hill to join us at ArtsWells 2017!

Wells, Barkerville & the surrounding immediate Cariboo communities are suffering with the decrease of seasonal tourism, which is normally at its peak this time of year. In efforts to retain and sustain business & normality in the area after the BC Fires we’re reaching out to all our friends at Island Mountain Arts (that’s you) to join us. Early Bird & Early Crow tickets have sold out!

Support our community & purchase your 2017 ArtsWells tickets here

We’re delighted to share with you our summer workshops, suitable for aspiring musicians of all ages. All workshops are held in Wells, BC. We’re so thankful these are facilitated annual, it wouldn’t happen without the Island Mountain Arts members contribution (that’s you). If you would like to donate to IMA or want more information on any of the services we provide including our artist-in-residence programs or upcoming events we provide throughout the year you can head here.

‘The Salmon Run’, follows a salmon on his journey to return to the spawning grounds. Written and illustrated by Clayton Gauthier, the debut book of this talented artist, storyteller and cultural leader. This book is published by Theytus Books a leading North American publisher of Indigenous voices, located in Syilx territory on the Penticton Indian Reserve.  The Salmon Run was written and illustrated while I was attending the NAPAT program at the En’owkin Centre in the Okanagan territory.  The NAPAT program has opened a lot of doors for me as a professional artist. The Creative Writing class CW 150 with our instructor Nicola Campbell was based on studying Indigenous children’s Literature and writing children’s books.

The gallery walls are filled with Clayton’s drawings, paintings carvings, and instruments for you to view and purchase from Friday July 21 to August  20, 2017. You can check the photo’s Claytons Exhibition Launch here.
