Motos O presents PETROUCHKA
November 12th 2PM (running time 50 minutes)

In this magical world there lives the Wizard and his three marionettes the handsome but cruel Strongman, the beautiful Ballerina and the unlikely hero Petrouchka. Petrouchka is in love with the Ballerina but his clumsy attempts to impress her takes him on an outrageous adventure that unfolds with no end of calamity. Join Petrouchka as he outwits the Strongman, tames a bear, dances with a feather, juggles bowling balls, goes fishing and avoids the anger of the Wizard and then in a spectacular finale saves the Ballerina’s life. Petrouchka may be small and awkward but his enthusiasm for life enchants us all. Performed to the original score by Igor Stravinsky, Petrouchka is the story of a little clown with a big heart

RUMPLESTILTSKIN…AND OTHER TALES
January 21st   2PM (running time 45 minutes plus talk back)

Jeff Leard, Storyteller, sparkles in this very active, new telling of the Grimm’s tale of Rumpelstiltskin. It deals with the origins of Rumpelstiltskin, how the daughter becomes the victim of her father’s bragging and then is trapped in a web of spinning straw into gold. It answers a number of questions often left out of the story.

The Civic Theatre presents

Kinesis: A Prologue to the Future of Kootenay Film

September 22-25, 2017

This formative event is the product of more than a year of listening to local film and screen-based media practitioners about the key elements that would lead to a thriving Kootenay screen-based industry.

We are planning four days of professional development, networking, open space sessions and screenings of content made by people from the region. Kinesis aims to celebrate people in and from the Kootenays who are making and working in screen-based media. We are inviting filmers within the area to submit their works, past or present, that resonate with our cultural identity or fall within our local geography. (Please have a look at our submission link for more specific details and guidelines)

**Submission deadline is August 4, 2017 at 12:00 AM PST**

Submission Link: https://filmfreeway.com/festival/Kinesis

Check out the Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1832070680443799/?active_tab=about

Early bird festival passes will be available for purchase shortly, first to the local screen-based industry in our region, and then to the public.
